Reflective essay on Life Science 151
University has being a great transition from last year for me. I've come
to take more responsibility this year than i could have ever imagined, in doing
so I have matured tremendously in every aspect. I think the ECP program has had
a great deal in shaping me the way I am this year to prepare myself for the
years to come. This extra program has given me just a taste of what is to come
and how I should approach my work from now on wards.
Life Science 151 has given me more knowledge about things that
interested me in grade 10, when i first chose biology. I chose this subject in throughout
my high school learning, the reason being I was a very curious person and
wanted to know how life and the world around us work. Though this was my
favourite subject, topics were not done in detail due to time constraints. Life
Science 151 has given me that extra bit of knowledge and understanding that I
was seeking. We were able to go in detail about DNA and proteins, things that I really enjoy doing and listening too. We obtain our marks through practicals, tutorials, tests, assignments, attendance and class work.
The first test we did, I failed badly due to a lack of studying. I thought the work we did I knew and was easy, turned out not to be the case. It bite me in my a**. That was the first time I had EVER failed a biology test. Talk about a failure! After that I vowed to never fail another test because of not studying. Turns out that if you put that little bit of effort to study and pay attention in lectures, you will definitely won't fail and the lecturers aren't as mean as I thought. They actually care about you-who would have thought?!
I enjoy practicals the most in life science. Its SUPER fun and we get to work with cool laboratory things. The practicals I enjoy the most is when we working with the microscopes. We get to work with cool specimens and I'm actually able to know if this is what I really want to for the rest of my life. An it is! I love being in the lab, its kind of my highlight of the week compared to the rest of lectures and stuff we get (LOL).
Good overall reflection.
