A remarkable day out at Cape Point
Cape Point is located at the tip
of the Cape Peninsula south-west of Cape
Town. Its a nature reserve within the Table Mountain National Park which was
declared Natural World Heritage Site in December 1999.The scenic beauty of Cape
Point has become a international icon of great historical interest with many tourists
drawn to the area because of its rich maritime history.

This
narrow stretch of land with beautiful valleys, bays and beaches, contains
a mix of extraordinarily diverse and unique fauna and flora. The flora
vegetation of the area have smallest but richest of the world's six floral
kingdoms.Cape point is a paradise that has 7 750 hectares of rich and
varied flora and fauna; abounding with buck, baboons, zebra and more than 250
species of birds. The rocks and cliffs towering more than 200 metres above
the sea which cuts deep into the ocean provides a breathtaking background for
the Parks’ rich bio-diversity.

Visiting this reserve was majestic I felt like was in paradise! The first stop site we came to after that smelly, compacted ride was the beach. That first smell of sea water was refreshing to everyone in the bus so much so that once everyone was out of the bus they seemed to have photo fever! Everyone seemed either be taking or in photos or either photo booming, some memorable moments if have to say so myself.
The last stop site was the lighthouse and may I
say NEVER AGAIN! The final site had baboons roaming around like they were just
going about there normal routine even though hundreds of people kept staring
and taking pictures of there asses and unusual behavior. The one baboon was
playing with a choice condom trying to open it we all had our dirty little
comments to say about moment which made it that much more funnier at the time.
After admiring the baboons for a while we decided as a group to walk up the lighthouse trail not knowing that was a recipe for disaster. If you ever needed to shed a kilo or two you should do that hike as a workout. I felt as if I was gonna die from a lost of feeling in my body but boy did it feel good reaching the top of that lighthouse after what felt likes hours of walking to get there. Once at the top of the lighthouse I felt so at peace and content. It made me want to appropriate our planet and surroundings more. Our country is such a beautiful place and we often taking for granted how lucky we are to have such a amazing country. That's filled with a variety of different bio-diversity and species. Though many times I regret living in south Africa because of the high crime rates and all the other negative things. We have many things to be proud of such as having 8 of the worlds heritage sites, having amazing pollution free areas and our marine and wildlife is something to be admired.
